A new store made its presence known last week as passersby spotted balloons and signs signifying the store’s grand opening.

Rent One, 2525 Missouri Blvd., carries a variety of products available for cash sale, 120 days same as cash, rental or rent-to-own. The store offers name brand furniture, appliances, TVs, smartphones, computers, playground equipment, power equipment, grills and more. It also has items available for weekly and monthly rates, and delivery and service are included “before, during and after the sale.”

Kevin Hollaway, vice president of operations, said he is excited to open the store in his hometown of Jefferson City.

“I was born and raised here,” Hollaway said. “I’ve traveled around the country helping to build businesses, and am thrilled to death to be able to open this company here.”

The Rent One store opened on Thursday under the direction of store manager Lance Langeberg. A ribbon-cutting was held with the Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce, welcoming the store to the community. The Capital City location is the newest design and the 70th store for the St. Louis-based national company.

The store features different pieces in a showroom-like design, highlighting furniture placement paired with complimentary pieces. The closest Rent One store to Jefferson City is located in Rolla.

The new store employs eight and will be getting involved in the community.

Hollaway said the Missouri-owned and managed company often gives to the United Way, Boys and Girls Clubs, and Ronald McDonald House, among other not-for-profits. “I’m happy to be able to do that in a town I live in and am from.”

“Obviously Jefferson City is a great town,” Hollaway said, “It’s booming. We see a lot of potential.”

The store is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays.
