SPRINGFIELD - The Jefferson City Jays played Wednesday at the Springfield Invitational.
The Jays had a singles player and a doubles team advance to the quarterfinals in the 28-team event.
In singles, David Claussen received a first-round bye before beating Grant Dillworth of Webb City 8-1 and Dalis Feemster of Hillcrest 8-3. Claussen then fell 8-6 in the quarterfinals.
In doubles, the team of David Steinmeyer and Spencer Bone got a first-round bye. The two then defeated teams from Poplar Bluff (8-3) and Glendale (8-3) before falling 8-2 in the quarterfinals to a team from Jenks, Okla.
Dane Biesemeyer of Jefferson City finished 1-1 in singles, winning his first match 8-4 before falling 8-6.
The doubles team of Joey Mendez and Josh Morris won 8-2 before falling 2-8.
Jefferson City is back in action Saturday at the Columbia Duals.
