Your Opinion: Promote adoption, not abortion

Dear Editor:

I recently read that Planned Parenthood's Columbia Center is no longer licensed to perform abortions. What would it take to license them to become an adoption clinic? I know there is always much red tape with government involvement but I am told the government does not fund abortions anyway.

I am concerned that couples who want to adopt have to go to other countries and spend thousands of dollars just to adopt one child when we are aborting them here for a fraction of that cost. While I am told Planned Parenthood does many good things for families why not make the cycle complete by providing babies for adoption instead of ending their little life.

My husband and I adopted two children over 40 years ago and they have been such a blessing to me. Why do we feel we have the right to deprive life to that little innocent human being?

Our country started out as one nation under God but now we debate everything. Scientists still are not sure when life begins. How many of us read the Bible and how many of us really believe it is the inspired Word of God? I do, and He tells us in His Word when life begins. In Jeremiah Chapter 1:5 God tells the prophet, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you."

Even King David, although he was not a scientist, wrote in Psalms 139:13, "For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother's womb."

We have no right to play god and kill that baby before it has a chance to live the life for which God created it. We are concerned about a murderer undergoing a few uncomfortable moments before he dies but no concern for the innocent baby who suffers a most horrific death at the hands of those who take an oath to uphold life. God can't be pleased with that.
