Ogletree rips grand slam as Jefferson City routs Battle

COLUMBIA - Brenden Ogletree hit a grand slam in the top of the first and the Jefferson City Jays went on to claim a 12-0 victory against Battle in five innings Tuesday afternoon.

Hayden Strobel hit a three-run home run, while Jackson Walker went 2-for-4 with an RBI to help pace the Jays, who improved to 10-4 on the year.

Adam Grunden and Alex Johnson both tallied two hits for Jefferson City.

Grunden received the win after allowing one hit in three innings. Cody Hager and Bret Jaegers both threw a scoreless inning for the Jays.

Jefferson City will host Rockhurst for the championship game of the Capital City Invitational at 5:30 p.m. today at Vivion Field.

The Jays also rolled to a 10-0 win against Battle in the JV game.

Garrett Durbin was 2-for-3 with three RBI, while Bryce Beckley was 2-for-3 and drove in two runs to lead Jefferson City. Ripken Dodson was also 2-for-3 with an RBI to help pace the Jays at the plate.

Logan Schmitz picked up the win after throwing three innings, while Taylor Hartman pitched the final two innings, striking out four.

Jefferson City (9-1) will play at Hickman on Monday.
