Lincoln finishes 7th

ST. CHARLES - Austin Wheeler and Brian Lillevold tied for 25th overall, leading Lincoln to a seventh-place finish at the Embassy Suites Invitational on Tuesday.

The Blue Tigers shot a 647 as a team, placing them three strokes behind sixth-place Lindenwood Belleville at the tournament, hosted by Lindenwood University at the Whitmoor Country Club.

Wheeler shot a 161 after shaving one stroke off of his first-round so core of 81. Lillevold also carded a 161 after posting scores of 80 and 81.

Steven Mallow had the next-best finish for the Blue Tigers, rebounding from a first-round score of 85 to shoot a 79 on Tuesday. The senior finished with a 164, placing him in a tie for 30th in the overall field.

Eric Kosomatka tied for 41st after making the biggest improvement between rounds. The senior shot an 89 on Monday, but rebounded to fire an 80 on Tuesday to finish with a combined score of 169.

Rounding out Lincoln's performance was Nick Goeke, who placed 45th in the individual field with a 172. The senior shot an opening-round 79, but carded a 91 on the final day.

The Embassy Suites Invitational marked the final regular-season tournament for Lincoln, which will now turn its attention to postseason play. The Blue Tigers will start with the MIAA Championship, starting Monday at the Alvamar Country Club in Lawrence, Kan.
