Holts Summit alderman tab Septagon for municipal center project

The Holts Summit Board of Aldermen on Monday discussed various new business including a bid for the Municipal Center Project and public improvements such as new sidewalks, renovations to Greenway Park, and an underground electric service and easement at the amphitheater.

After the old business was discussed from the March meeting, the three re-elected officials took the oath of office. Mayor Lucas Fitzpatrick, Alderman Thomas Durham and Alderwoman Sharon Schlueter all took this oath after the recent election decision on April 8.

Holts Summit aldermen voted to award a bid for the Municipal Center Project to Septagon Construction Company of Jefferson City to make renovations on the project as well as pay off the debt for the 213 Summit Drive building. The board approved a plan to improve sidewalks in the city using grant money that was awarded in 2012.

City Administrator Brian Crane said the plan included alternates so if bids came in low enough more sidewalks could be built.

Another bill passed would authorize the mayor to execute an easement agreement for an underground electric service and amphitheater. The easement agreement is with Ameren Missouri to provide more electrical capacity at amphitheater and eventually a nearby subdivision.

The board also voted to employ an engineer to assist in design and construction of Holt Summit's wastewater system and to award a bid for street maintenance and repair.

The aldermen also appointed Kent L. Brown as city attorney, Renee Godbee as city prosecutor, Curtis Hanrahan as municipal judge and Cotton S. Walker as alternate municipal judge.

Alderman Landon Oxley reported on the plan to build a veteran's memorial in the city, and Alderman Durham announced that over 300 youth had signed up to play summer baseball. To this, the mayor commented that it was important to approve the resolution to improve Greenway Park for the City of Holts Summit.
