Tennis: Helias 5, Waynesville 4

The Helias Crusaders outlasted the Waynesville Tigers 5-4 on Tuesday, taking the final match of the dual to claim the victory at Washington Park.

The teams split the singles matches to head to doubles tied at 3. Winning for Helias were Jeremy Wolters (10-5), Ryan Pollock (10-7) and David Huber (10-4). Losing for the Crusaders were Caleb Seidel (10-1), Kirk Twehous (10-3) and T.J. Hagenhoff (10-7).

After Seidel and Wolters lost 10-4 at No. 1 doubles, Helias' No. 3 team of Pollock and Klint Braun won 10-4 to tie it up at 4. Twehous and Hagenhoff, after trailing 9-7 at No. 2 doubles, rallied for an 11-10 victory, taking the tiebreaker by a 7-4 score.

Helias, which is now 4-1 in duals this year, will return to action April 23 at home against Marshall.

The Cruasaders won the JV dual 6-1.
