Marble helps Missouri softball top Auburn

AUBURN, Ala. - Alora Marble (Blair Oaks High School) pitched the final 3 2/3 innings as No. 16 Missouri claimed a 8-7 victory against No. 20 Auburn to clinch a Southeastern Conference series win on Saturday.

Marble allowed three runs on three hits, while striking out two to improve to 4-0 on the season. In nine appearances, the senior right-hander has a 3.13 earned run average and has recorded 14 strikeouts in 31 1/3 innings.

Marble issued all three of her runs in the fifth, before shutting Auburn down in the final two innings.

Mackenzie Sykes hit two home runs and drove in six runs to help lead the Tigers offensively. Sami Fagan was 1-for-3 with two runs batted in to help pace Missouri (31-10, 8-6 SEC).

Casey Stangel got the start for the Tigers, allowing four runs on three hits in 3 1/3 innings.

Missouri will go for a road sweep against Auburn (31-11-1, 6-8 SEC) at 1 p.m. Sunday.
