Jefferson City tops Marshall in tennis

MARSHALL - The Jefferson City Jays are finally in the win column.

After three rainouts and a pair of losses to start the season, Jefferson City bested the Marshall Owls 7-2 on Thursday afternoon.

Singles winners for the Jays were David Clausen (6-2, 6-1), David Steinmeyer (6-1, 6-3), Spencer Bone (6-0, 6-0), Dane Biesemeyer (6-1, 6-0) and Joey Mendez (2-6, 6-2, 10-8 tiebreaker). Josh Morris lost 6-2, 2-6, (7-10 tiebreaker).

Doubles winners for the Jays were Steinmeyer and Bone (10-5) and Clausen and Mendez (10-4). Biesemeyer and Morris lost 2-10.

The Jays travel to Springfield Glendale today.
