Infant's death lands woman on probation

An Eldon woman charged in connection with the death of a 2-month-old baby in April 2013 has been placed on five years supervised probation.

Court records show Elizabeth Burnett, 26, was charged with first-degree endangering the welfare of a child and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.

Charges of possession of marijuana and keeping or maintaining a public nuisance were dismissed.

Eldon police and firefighters responded to a home where Burnett was residing for a report of an unresponsive 2-month-old child. The child was taken to Lake Regional Hospital, where it was pronounced dead.
