JC man accused of assaulting woman

A Jefferson City man is charged with assaulting the mother of his child with a knife early Monday morning.

As of Tuesday afternoon, James Ahhee, 43, was being held in the Cole County Jail on $200,000 bond on charges of second-degree domestic assault, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child.

The incident occurred in the 6900 block of Meadowbrook Drive.

A Cole County Sheriff's Department probable cause statement shows Ahhee got into a verbal argument with the female that lasted several hours.

The argument eventually turned into a physical fight where Ahhee told the woman he would kill her.

Ahhee grabbed the woman and the couple's 5-year-old child around their throats, then got a knife and cut the woman on her right calf and right foot. She required multiple stitches to close the wounds.

While interviewing the juvenile, the child said she were scared of Ahhee and had been told to keep what had happened a secret.
