Earleywine gets No. 500

COLUMBIA - Missouri softball coach Ehren Earleywine earned his 500th career victory with a 4-2 win in Game 1 of a doubleheader against Western Illinois on Wednesday night.

The 16th-ranked Tigers completed the sweep with a 5-0 win in the nightcap.

Tori Finucane threw a complete game, allowing one earned run on five hits while striking out five in seven innings in Game 1.

Mackenzie Sykes was 2-for-2 and drove in a run, while Kelli Schkade and Corrin Genovese added an RBI to lead the Tigers at the plate in the opener.

Casey Stangel threw a complete game-shutout, allowing three hits and striking out three in seven innings to lift Missouri in the nightcap.

Schkade was 3-for-4 and drove in two runs, while Sykes was 2-for-3 in Game 2.

Missouri improved to 29-10 while Western Illinois dropped to 18-16-1 on the year.

The Tigers are back in action at No. 20 Auburn at 6 p.m. Friday.
