BizBeat: Kicking the habit with Vapeology
Shop opens on Missouri Boulevard

E-cigarettes are becoming more popular, and the “Now Open” sign of a new shop in Jefferson City reinforces that trend.
Vapeology, an e-cigarette shop touts the slogan, “More vapor for less paper,” opened at the end of February at 1418 E Missouri Blvd. Store owner Ryan Jimenez said he opened the shop to ultimately help people quit smoking, offering a variety of products with competitive prices.
A longtime smoker himself, Jimenez said he was able to quit cigarettes eight months ago by using e-cigarettes.
“It’s time to make a switch,” Jimenez said Friday.
The idea behind the e-cigarettes is to switch from traditional cigarettes to the vapor-based product. The nicotine levels can be adjusted so people can eventually wean themselves off of the addictive substance. Jimenez said there is no second-hand smoke because what is puffed out is 99.9 percent water vapor. From his own personal experience, Jimenez had tried to quit smoking using other methods over the last five years.
“Your lung function comes back drastically,” he said, also noting a change in taste buds.
Advantages to using e-cigarettes include little to no smell, and the smoker isn’t consuming any tobacco.
“After you’ve bought your kit, it’s a lot cheaper than smoking.”
The locally owned and operated shop sells a variety of e-cigs and liquids including over 60 flavors, NicQuid Premium, Hangsen E-Liquids, replacement parts, Kanger Tech coils, E-VOD batteries, chargers and tanks, atomizers. Many customers start out using the menthol flavors, but the cinnamon, fruit and dessert flavors are also popular.
Jimenez said the nicotine used in the e-cigs is the same used in the nicotine patches and the gum. The owner noted that he’s already had 20 customer stop smoking cigarettes in the one month he’s been open.
Jimenez offered one last piece of advice “vape responsibly.” He said he encourages customers to use common sense when vapeing in public places, and that it’s up to each business whether to allow the e-cigs.
The shop is open for business Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
