Former Lincoln baseball player Pfau to play overseas

Former Lincoln Blue Tiger Chris Pfau signed a contract last month to continue his professional baseball career in the Netherlands.

Pfau, who most recently played with the Gateway Grizzlies of the Frontier League, has joined the Heiloo Double Stars, whose season began Friday and runs through Aug. 30.

The team's MVP in 2012 as a senior after leading the Blue Tigers in six major batting and four major pitching categories, Pfau ended his Lincoln career as an All-Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletics Association first-team selection. It was the third all-league honor for Pfau in three seasons with the Blue Tigers, as he was named to the All-MIAA second team as a junior and All-Heartland Conference second-team as a sophomore.

Pfau was the Blue Tigers' best pitcher in 2012, winning a team-high five games while leading Lincoln with 56 strikeouts, the sixth-most in the MIAA that season. Pfau also led Lincoln in ERA (5.17) and opposing batter average (.265).

On offense that season, Pfau finished with a team-best .333 average, and also led the squad in hits (51), doubles (7), triples (3) and RBI (21).
