Jays fall in tennis

KANSAS CITY - The defending state champions were too much.

Jefferson City finally started its tennis season after three rainouts this week, falling to Rockhurst 9-0.

Falling in singles for the Jays were David Clausen (5-7, 3-6), David Steinmeyer (0-6, 0-6), Spencer Bone (1-6, 3-6), Dalton Doyle (1-6, 1-6), Dane Biesemeyer (0-6, 1-6), Joey Mendez (0-6, 0-6).

Falling in doubles was Steinmeyer and Bone (0-8), Clausen and Doyle (0-8) and Biesemeyer and Mendez (0-8).

Jefferson City (0-1) travels Monday to Rolla.
