Baseball doubleheader

HALLSVILLE - The Blair Oaks freshman team swept a doubleheader from Hallsville on Friday, winning 19-3 and 17-1.

Mason Gipe starred in the opener for the Falcons, driving in eight runs on three hits, including a three-run homer. Ben Forck added three hits and an RBI, Garrett Welschmeyer had two hits - one a home run - and two RBI, Jason Rackers collected two hits and an RBI and Ryan Paschal had two hits.

Paschal was also the winning pitcher, tossing four innings while allowing three runs (none earned) on one hit with nine strikeouts.

It was more of the same in the nightcap. Tyler Swehla earned the win, allowing an unearned run on no hits in two innings pitched while striking out three. Cole Sandbothe pitched an inning, striking out two.

Swehla had two hits and an RBI, Scott Farley added two hits and scored a run, and Clayton Backes drove in two runs.

Blair Oaks (4-0) hosts Fatima on Monday.
