Area teams adjust schedules due to weather

Heavy rainfall and tornado warnings throughout the area put a number of local athletic events on hold Thursday.

The Blair Oaks Falcons and Lady Falcons track and field teams will have to wait even longer to open their season. The teams were supposed to compete at Linn on Thursday. That meet will now take place on Monday.

The Blair Oaks baseball game at Versailles and the Falcons' golf match at Oak Hills were cancelled. A make-up date has not been set for either event.

The Jefferson City Jays' home tennis match against Waynesville has been rescheduled for 4 p.m. April 29. It's the latest postponement in a tough week for the netters, as the Jays are now 0-for-3 in matches that could have opened the season, following rain delays Monday at Rolla and Tuesday at Camdenton.

The Helias baseball game at Cuba and the Crusaders' tennis match at Fulton were cancelled. The Crusaders and Lady Crusaders' track meet at Centralia was also called off and will not be rescheduled.

The Lincoln Blue Tigers baseball team will host Missouri Western for a pair of Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday. Lincoln will kick off the action at 1 p.m. Saturday, before concluding the four-game series at noon on Sunday. The Blue Tigers were originally supposed to host the Griffons for a single game today.

The Lincoln softball team, which canceled its non-conference home doubleheader against Rockhurst on Wednesday, is now scheduled to host Central Missouri in doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. today. Lincoln will then host Southwest Baptist in a twinbill starting at 1 p.m. Saturday.
