ST. CHARLES - A two-run ninth inning for Southern Illinois proved to be the difference as Missouri dropped the midweek contest to the Salukis 4-2 on Tuesday at Lindenwood University's Lou Brock Complex.

The loss erased a strong outing from Breckin Williams, who threw 22/3 innings out of the bullpen, including a clutch strikeout to end the fourth inning with the bases loaded and the game tied at one.

Peter Fairbanks allowed an unearned run on four hits and two walks while striking out four in 32/3 innings as the Tigers' starter.

Keaton Steele took the loss after yielding two runs on four hits and one walk in the ninth.

Eric Anderson and Shane Segovia each drove in a run to lead Missouri at the plate.

The Tigers (13-14) are slated to play Illinois at 6:30 p.m. today at Busch Stadium.

Southern Illinois improved to 15-12 on the year.
