Man placed on probation in child molestation case

A Jefferson City man has pleaded guilty to first-degree child molestation for incidents that occurred between February and July 2012.

Grady M. Kent, 23, 214 Dunford St., was placed on five years of supervised probation, and must comply with all conditions of the Missouri Department of Corrections sex offender agreement and complete an outpatient sex offender program.

A police probable cause statement shows Kent had nude photographs and videos on his cellphone of a child younger than 13.

The phone was found in Kent's bedroom. Although the phone wasn't connected to a cellular service, it did work when charged or plugged in, police said.

Police said Kent's mother found the photographs and videos on the phone, and identified the victim and Kent's voice in several of the photographs and videos.

Police also said two of the photographs showed specific violations of Missouri's sexual contact laws.
