Jefferson City's Thompson wins title at Capital City Invitational

Jefferson City's Brooke Thompson stormed to the individual title in Monday's Capital City Invitational at Jefferson City Country Club.

Thompson was the lone player to shoot in the 70s, as she posted a 5-over 77. That was clear of the nearest competitor by three shots, as School of the Osage's Taylor Hayes was second with an 80.

St. Joseph's Academy captured the team title with a score of 346, 10 strokes better than second-place Warrensburg. Rock Bridge was third at 359, followed by Helias at 269 and Jefferson City at 372.

The rest of the 14-team field was made up of Villa Duchesne (390), Russellville (393), Moberly (395), California (406), Ursuline Academy (406), Hickman (416), Osage (428), Sedalia Smith-Cotton (438) and Southern Boone (446).

In addition to Thompson, those scoring for Jefferson City were Hope Watson (94), Ashlee Morrison (99) and Blair Michael (102).

Jenna Kosmatka led the way for Helias with an 83. Laura Plunkett had a 93, Maggie Kehoe carded a 96 and Hanna Berendzen added a 97.

For Russellville, Kelsey Schrimpf shot an 89, Mikala Jungmeyer had a 90, Madison Oliver shot a 99 and Madie Bungart had a 115.

California had a consistent team effort, as Haley Goans (100), Renee Roberts (101), Sophie Brant (102) and Rylee Glenn (103) separated by just three shots.

Joining Hayes as those to score for Osage were Devin Henderson (105) and Calli Schillaci (117). MacCayla Montgomery and Olivia Crane both shot 126s.

Scoring for Southern Boone were Hannah Murocki (92), Mattison Dittmer (104), Ashton McCloud (107) and Katie Gowdy (143).
