Eldon celebrates 28th Annual Turkey Festival

Hundreds flocked to the 28th Annual Turkey Festival in Eldon on Saturday.

The festivities began Friday night with the Lil' Mr. and Miss Turkey contest for children ages 5 and 6 and the Lil' Mr. and Miss Gobble contest for ages 3 and 4 at Eldon South Elementary.

Saturday kicked off with the Turkey Trot and Gobble Wobble 5K at the Eldon Airpark.

A parade made its way through town at 10 a.m., featuring several community floats; the winners of the Lil' Mr. and Miss Turkey and Gobble contests; and marching bands from Eldon, Iberia, New Bloomfield and Fatima high schools.

Vendors lined Maple Street offering food, crafts, jewelry, apparel and more; and other attractions included a quilt show and flower show presented by the Eldon Garden Club, Arrowhead Garden Club and Lake Bloomers Garden Club.

Multiple stages throughout the town hosted live music and performances.

The festival wrapped up at 5:30 p.m. with a demolition derby sponsored by the Eldon Career Center's SkillsUSA chapter at the Miller County Fairgrounds.
