Southern Boone at California
It's turning into a valid question. Can anybody stop the California Pintos?
Nobody has come anywhere close to beating Marty Albertson's ball club so far. California has rolled to a perfect 4-0 start with the average margin of victory more than 37 points per game.
That likely won't change when the Pintos, ranked No. 3 in Class 3, host Southern Boone at 7 p.m. Friday.
California is coming off a 57-8 victory against Hallsville. The Pintos also own wins against Boonville (42-7), Mexico (42-14) and Eldon (38-0).
Southern Boone, on the other hand, is off to a 1-3 start.
The Eagles are coming off a 48-0 loss at Blair Oaks last Friday. They only managed 156 yards of total offense while giving up 470 to the Falcon attack. David Holland led Southern Boone with 62 rushing yards on 21 carries.
Southern Boone's lone win came against Father Tolton (32-28), sandwiched between a pair of losses against Kirksville (40-26) and School of the Osage (45-20).
South Callaway at Tipton
This could have been one of the games of the year in mid-Missouri had 2012 Tipton met 2013 South Callaway.
Alas, that's not the case.
South Callaway is off to a 4-0 start and ranked No. 4 in Class 2. Tipton, although coming off consecutive wins, is in rebuilding mode this season.
The Bulldogs and Cardinals meet at 7 p.m. Friday.
Tipton, which had its 68-game regular-season winning streak come to an end this season, topped South Callaway 28-18 in Mokane in 2012. The Bulldogs look for a measure of revenge in 2013.
South Callaway is coming off a 31-6 victory against Hermann. Strangely enough, that 25-point drubbing marks the closest game the Bulldogs have been involved in this season.
They also own victories against North Callaway (31-0), Crystal City (46-6) and Scotland County (55-0).
Tipton opened the season with losses to Sedalia Sacred Heart (39-0) and North Callway (26-20, OT) before rallying for a pair of wins against Windsor (49-6) and Father Tolton (20-13).
Garner Rudroff leads South Callaway with 207 rushing yards, while quarterback Troy Hentges has 196 yards on the ground to go along with six touchdowns. He also has six more scores through the air.
Hallsville at Warsaw
Look for a pair of motivated teams in this matchup.
Hallsville and Warsaw are both coming off Week 4 losses heading into Friday's 7 p.m. contest.
The Indians actually have lost two straight, albeit both came against Tri-County Conference powerhouses. California (57-8) and Blair Oaks (38-8) own those victories.
Those consecutive defeats came after victories against Fayette (42-12) and Paris (40-24).
Warsaw is coming off its first loss of the 2013 campaign, a 62-19 defeat to Eldon. The Wildcats began the year with three straight wins against Clinton (49-15), Cole Camp (47-25) and Versailles (40-16) before last Friday's humbling defeat.
The silver lining, though, is Warsaw already has surpassed its win total from the 2012 season.
Warsaw amassed 350 total yards in their loss to Eldon, with 132 coming on the ground and 218 through the air.
Eldon at Versailles
Eldon has alternated losses and wins so far this season. Versailles is still searching for that first victory.
One of them will break its streak when the teams meet at 7 p.m. Friday.
Eldon is coming off a dominating 62-19 victory against Warsaw for homecoming last Friday. The Mustangs racked up 438 rushing yards, part of a 496-yard night on offense.
Quarterback Wyatt Greenwalt rushed eight times for 189 yards and three touchdowns, and went 2-of-3 passing for 56 yards and a score. Dalton Lister picked up 151 yards and three touchdowns on seven carries, while Raymond Kwok ran 14 times for 74 yards and two scores.
Eldon opened the year with a 48-42 loss to Miller Career Academy, responded with a 41-14 victory against Buffalo and fell 38-0 to California before last Friday's win.
Versailles has losses to Knob Noster (35-32), Fulton (44-33), Warsaw (40-16) and School of the Osage (57-0).
Camdenton at Parkview
The perfect regular season is gone. Now it's time for Camdenton to rebound.
A battle of undefeated squads ended with Camdenton on the losing end. The Lakers dropped a 21-19 decision to Kickapoo last Friday, as the Lakers dropped from fifth to 10th in the Class 5 rankings.
Camdenton looks to stay in the rankings with a 7 p.m. contest at Parkview on Friday.
Kickapoo moved from unranked to ninth after the big win.
Camdenton quarterback Bo Dean went 19-of-29 for 204 yards, two touchdowns and an interception against Kickapoo. Both those tosses went to Kullen Carlock, who finished with 144 receiving yards on 12 grabs. Matt Endsley added a rushing touchdown.
Dean is 44-of-66 for 556 yards and five touchdowns on the season.
Camdenton owns wins against Hillcrest (17-14), West Plains (35-15) and Lebanon (20-17).
Parkview opened with losses against Kickapoo (39-25) and Joplin (38-21) before responding with wins against Rolla (27-20) and Waynesville (38-14).
