12 years in prison for selling drugs near school

A Jefferson City man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for pleading guilty to two counts of selling a controlled substance near a school.

Mark Parker, 41, of 1010 Madison, is charged with selling heroin in the 800 block of Jackson Street, near Thorpe Gordon Elementary, in December 2011 and January 2012.

Parker sold the drug to an undercover officer who recorded the sale.

Parker is considered a prior drug offender having been convicted of distributing a controlled substance in January 2012.
