The Rev. Stephen Jones was installed as president of Helias Catholic High School by Bishop John R. Gaydos during a Mass celebrated Thursday at the school in Jefferson City.

Gaydos appointed Jones to the position in June; the bishop blessed him in his new position Thursday.

The Mass, one of 10 all-school Masses planned at Helias this school year, was organized by Sister Julie Brandt. The Helias Concert Choir provided the music under the direction of Jana Fox.

As the incoming president of Helias, Jones said last spring that he views his role as the public face of the school, providing leadership and guidance to both the faculty and the student body.

Most recently, Jones has served the Diocese as a sacramental minister at St. Michaels Church in Russellville and as the director of the Diocesan Youth Ministry office. In that later capacity, he facilitated and promoted youth programming, although he didn't administer the office's budget.

"I worked with the people who work with youth," he said.
