Belle tops Calvary Lutheran in volleyball opener

The Belle Lady Tigers spoiled the season opener and home opener for the Calvary volleyball team Thursday, taking down the Lady Lions 25-23, 21-25, 25-17 at the Trinity Lutheran gym.

Emily Loethen had a big night for Calvary, racking up four kills, five digs and three aces. Katie Goodin had six kills and five blocks for the Lady Lions, Jessica Stark added eight assists, Krista Stanford added six digs and Rebecca Thompson had 13 service points, while included six aces.

In the JV match, Calvary cruised to a 25-9, 25-15 victory.

McKenzie Schulte had 11 service points, including five aces, and six digs for the Lady Lions. Brooke Rollins had six assists and Savannah Laird had two kills.

Calvary will play Thursday at Chamois.
