The Liberty Police Department has concluded that the death of former Jefferson City resident Chad Rogers was due to natural causes.

Wednesday, the Jackson County Medical Examiner's office announced that there were no signs of foul play in Rogers' death.

The search for Rogers began when he failed to return from a run on July 22 in Liberty.

Law enforcement agencies were joined by hundreds of volunteers in a search for Rogers in the ensuing days.

His body was found in south Liberty on July 26 when police responded to a suspicious circumstance call.

With the medical examiner's conclusion regarding cause of death, the Liberty Police Department has closed their investigation into this case.
