Four area teams remain in football poll

And then there were four.

Four area teams remain in the Top 10 of this week's media state football poll.

Jefferson City moved up a spot to No. 9 in Class 6 after a 24-7 victory against McCluer North on Saturday.

The Helias Crusaders' loss to Harrisonville didn't hurt them too much in the rankings. The two schools traded places, as Harrisonville moved up to No. 2 and Helias fell to No. 3 after the Crusaders' 22-21 loss Friday night.

California stayed steady in Class 3. The Pintos opened the season with a 42-6 thrashing of Boonville and remain at No. 3.

South Callaway jumped from sixth to fourth in Class 2 after defeating North Callaway 31-0 on Friday.

It was a tough week for some other area teams. Blair Oaks, which was ranked ninth in the Class 2 preseason poll, fell out of the rankings after its 48-18 loss Friday night at Moberly. The Falcons are among the others receiving votes.

Another team receiving votes is Eldon in Class 3 after losing to Miller Career Academy 48-42.

Tipton saw its 68-game regular season winning streak end with a 39-0 loss to Sedalia Sacred Heart. The Cardinals, who were No. 4 in Class 1 in the preseason poll, fell to the others receiving votes category.
