Soldier who died at Fort Leonard Wood identified

FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. (AP) - Fort Leonard Wood officials have identified a soldier who died at the fort in August as Sgt. 1st Class Nathan Dolson Jr., of Niagara Falls, N.Y.

The 49-year-old Dolson was found unresponsive Aug. 29 in a barrack's bathroom. He was pronounced dead at the General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital.

Fort officials said Tuesday the circumstances of his death are still under investigation.

Dolson was a drill sergeant assigned to Company C, 31st Engineer Battalion, 1st Engineer Brigade. He had been assigned to Fort Leonard Wood since August of 2013.

Dolson received several awards and decorations, including the National Defense Service Medal.
