A rape suspect who broke out of a northwest Missouri jail last month has managed to elude police in northeastern Ohio.

Twenty-three-year-old Brian Adkison, of Columbia, escaped Aug. 10 from the Caldwell County jail. He's wanted in several Missouri counties on charges including the rape and kidnap of a former girlfriend.

Police in the Cleveland suburb of Westlake, Ohio, report an officer tried to question a man identified as Adkison while he slept in a pickup truck around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday. The man started to lead police on a chase.

Officers in a nearby town disabled the pickup about 15 minutes later with stop sticks. Adkison ran off and remained at large following an extensive search.

Police say the truck was stolen in West Virginia and had a stolen Pennsylvania plate.

In June, Adkison was captured after leading law enforcement on a nearly week-long search in the Lake of the Ozarks area, after he was accused of kidnapping his former girlfriend near her home in Hamilton in Caldwell County.

Adkison escaped last month through the roof of his cell at the Caldwell County Jail in Kingston, Mo.
