COLUMBIA, Mo. - An outstanding season came to an abrupt end.
The top-seeded Helias Lady Crusaders saw their volleyball season come to a close with a 25-21, 26-24 loss to second-seeded Rock Bridge in the Class 4 District 9 Tournament championship Wednesday night at Hickman.
Helias began the evening with a 25-21, 25-15 victory against Troy in the district semifinals. Rock Bridge defeated Sedalia Smith-Cotton 23-25, 25-21, 25-13 in the other semifinal to set up the expected championship match.
Helias ends the season at 28-7, and loses three seniors to graduation - Anna Murphy, Brittney Engelbrecht and Tori Keller.
