Lady Jays claim district title in volleyball

WAYNESVILLE — The Jefferson City Lady Jays claimed the Class 4 District 10 Tournament title Tuesday night with a three-game victory against the Waynesville Lady Tigers.

Jefferson City defeated Waynesville 27-25, 22-25, 25-13 to advance to Saturday’s sectionals/quarterfinals at a site to be determined.

The top-seeded Lady Jays advanced to the district title match with a 25-14, 25-13 victory against the Rolla Lady Bulldogs in the semifinals.

Abbi McKnelly totaled 23 kills 10 digs and five aces in the two matches for the Lady Jays, who improve to 22-11-2.

Mallory York had 28 digs, while Maggie Albert finished with 50 assists. Sloan Pleus had 17 kills, 15 digs and seven aces.
