Lady Jays, Jays advance in cross country

LEBANON, Mo. — The Jefferson City Jays and Lady Jays advanced as teams from Saturday’s Class 4 district cross country championships.

The Lady Jays were second and the Jays fourth to move on to next Saturday’s sectional meet.

The Lady Jays finished with 54 team points to finish behind Rock Bridge (26).

Five Lady Jays individuals earned all-district honors by finishing in the top 30.

Emily Deeken led the way, taking third in 18:56.84. Other top finishers Tori Bonnot (10th), Kaylee Ruff (11th), Jaycie Sabala (14th) and Lindsey Biesemeyer (16th).

The Jays finished with 102 team points. West Plains was first with 31, followed by Rock Bridge (35) and Glendale (87).

Five Jays also captured all-district individual honors, led by Eli Jacobs (15th, 16:26.58). He was followed by Saxon Teubner (17th), Jackson Schwartz (20th), Lucas Theroff (21st) and Will Pierce (29th).

The sectional meet will be held in Camdenton.
