In nearby Wardsville, a new tenant has found its home in a building that has previously seen a revolving door of businesses since it was first built several years ago.
STEPS Dance Studio, an established business in both Osage Beach and California, has moved in for what the business owners hope will be a long time.
Owners Sharon Schrimpf, and daughters Shelly Schrimpf-Wells and Stacy Schrimpf, are excited to expand their business to the Wardsville and surrounding area. Daughter Stefani owns her own studio in Kansas, and is often a guest teacher at STEPS.
"This is like coming home," Sharon said of the new location.
The family is originally from the area, with all three girls attending Blair Oaks.
The dance studio will also offer Pilates classes, as both Shelly and Stacy are Pilates certified.
All three daughters started out in dance at an early age. The passion took over, and each pursued it as a career. The Schrimpf family is now using their extensive dance background to help train others.
"Along with dance classes, we offer training for students who want to become professional," Sharon said.
The Wardsville location has a large Pilates area with equipment and a small ballet studio. STEPS focuses on classical dance training and offers classes in jazz and tap as well as private dance training.
Pilates has been the family's newest addition to their business. Stacy said the program can be used for rehabilitation, improving posture, strength, flexibility, boosting sports performance and stamina, as well as aiding in weight loss and developing body awareness.
Classes officially started last week and enrollment is always open. Right now, the studio in Wardsville is open Mondays and Wednesdays, with daytime and evening classes. Pilates classes are offered in group-style and can be geared toward those involved.
