Shea sets record as Helias takes first

MEXICO - Kaitlyn Shea of Helias established a course record to lead the Lady Crusaders to the team title Tuesday at the Mexico Autumn Classic.

Shea won the event with a time of 19:42 to lead seven Helias runners who finished in the top 17 individuals in the 10-team event.

Kayla Yanskey was third, while Baylee Francka finished fifth. Lanie Hentges (ninth), Molly Light (10th), Ali Boudreau (13th) and Lizzy Stumpe (17th) rounded out the finishers for the Lady Crusaders.

Helias finished with 22 team points, Moberly was second with 69, while Mexico finished third with 72. Eldon, led by Julianna Timm's 14th-place finish, was fifth as a team with 132 points.

On the boys side, illness kept three Crusaders out of the lineup and Helias finished fourth with 109 team points.

Moberly took team honors with 63, three points better than Mexico. St. Dominic was third with 83.

Matt Lorang led Helias, finishing 12th. Teammate Elliot Knerschield was 13th.

Eldon was sixth in the 11-team event with 147 points. Chase Cook of the Mustangs finished 10th.
