Calvary Lutheran falls

SMITHTON - The Calvary Lutheran Lady Lions dropped a pair of close games, falling 22-25, 22-25 to Smithton on Tuesday.

Katie Goodin led Calvary with four kills and four blocks, while Emily Layson had seven digs, four kills and three aces. Layson and Rebecca Thompson both had seven service points, while Jessica Stark added nine assists.

Calvary (8-15-2) hosts the Missouri School for the Deaf on Thursday.

Calvary won the JV match 25-11, 25-6 to improve to 11-1 on the season.

McKenzie Schulte and Kyra Wiegers both had five aces, while they pair added 13 and nine service points, respectively. Jena Fischer added three kills while Kelly Rakow added four assists. Fischer and Savannah Laird both had two digs.
