JC woman arrested for assault over bingo winnings
Monday, October 21, 2013
A Jefferson City woman was arrested Monday for assaulting two individuals in a dispute over how to split $200 in bingo winnings.
The stabbing occurred Sunday night in Ashland where police said Margaret Thomas, 51, used a pair of scissors to attack two fellow Jefferson City residents as the three were returning home from playing bingo in Moberly.
Thomas was the driver of a vehicle that was traveling south on U.S. 63. Thomas stopped the vehicle on the shoulder of the road and assaulted the first victim as she sat in the rear of the vehicle, leaving her needing 32 stitches to sew up her cheek.
The second victim was injured while attempting to assist the first victim.
Thomas fled the area, leaving her two passengers on the side of the road, and an all-points bulletin was broadcast to area law enforcement agencies to be on the lookout for her.
Jefferson City police located Thomas and her vehicle on Locust Street, and she was brought back to Ashland.
Thomas is facing two counts of assault and one count of armed criminal action.
