ST. ELIZABETH, Mo. - St. Elizabeth made it farther than just about anybody could have expected. The Lady Hornets' season came to an end with a 9-7 loss to New Franklin in a Class 1 state quarterfinal game Saturday.
"I couldn't have asked for more from these girls," St. Elizabeth coach Peggy Wieberg said. "A rebuilding year, everybody counted us out. We showed what we're made of. I'm so proud of them. I wouldn't trade them for anybody."
Emma Kemna went 2-for-3 with four RBI, including a two-run home run, and two runs scored.
Savannah Stiles went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, Megan Kemna went 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored, Sarah Heckemeyer went 2-for-4 and Taylor Helton had a hit and an RBI.
Regan Wilde took the loss, striking out six and walking five.
St. Elizabeth ends its season at 17-9.
