Helias girls third at Invitational; Lady Jays take fifth

WASHINGTON, Mo. - The Helias Lady Crusaders led area team finishers Saturday at the Borgia Cross Country Invitational.

The Lady Crusaders finished third among 10 teams in the girls event, totaling 93 points. Ste. Genevieve was first with 22, with Ladue taking second with 61.

Kaitlyn Shea led Helias, finishing fourth. Other top 15 finishers for the Lady Crusaders were Kayla Yanskey (ninth) and Baylee Francka (15th).

The Jefferson City Lady Jays were fifth with 138 team points. Michaela Krause paced the Lady Jays by finishing 21st.

Gabrielle Hill from School of the Osage was 18th.

On the boys side, the Jays took eighth among 20 teams with 251 points. Potosi was first with 39.

Jayden Walker led the Jays by finishing 38th. Cody Irwin was 41st, with Ethan Reed taking 49th.

The Helias boys were ninth with 278 points. Evan Block led Helias, taking 26th. Other top 50 fiinishers were Thomas Asmar (28th) and Elliot Knerschield (38th).

School of the Osage, led by Matt Reid's 56th-place finish, was 16th as a team with 417 points.
