Jefferson City JV, frosh win in football

The Jefferson City Jays romped to a 55-26 win against Lebanon in JV football action Monday.

After Lebanon opened the scoring with a first-quarter touchdown, the Jays scored 28 unanswered points. Isaac Roling hit Jacob Gourley for a 20-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter that cut the lead to 7-6.

Then in the second quarter, Jefferson City had a team safety and then got scoring runs of 13 and 57 yards from Denzel Wilson and a 20-yard touchdown pass from Roling to Bryce Beckley. At halftime, the Jays' lead was 28-7.

After Lebanon opened the second half with 12 straight points, the Jays scored 27 in a row. Jefferson City had three third-quarter scores - a 9-yard run by Wilson, a 19-yard interception return by Antonio Steward and a 72-yard run by Wilson - to make it 49-19.

Roling had a 4-yard run in the fourth quarter that made it 55-19, while the Yellowjackets scored once more.

Jacob Roedel kicked three PATs for Jefferson City and Wilson had a 2-point run.

On the defensive side, Steward and Jalen Martin had interceptions.

Jays frosh win

The Jefferson City Jays rolled to a 28-6 win against Lebanon in freshman action Monday.

Gunnar See hit Christian Mayberry for a 34-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter to make it 7-0. Tate Borgmeyer kicked the first of his four PATs.

Rashaun Woods returned a kickoff 70 yards for a score to make it 14-6 in the second period.

The Jays added a pair of touchdowns in the fourth, one on a 1-yard pass from See to Mayberry, and the other on a 21-yard pass from See to Alan Roettgen.

Jefferson City hosts Camdenton on Thursday.
