JCPD looking for suspect in armed robbery

Jefferson City police are continuing to investigate an armed robbery that occurred late Monday night.

At about 11p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Elizabeth Street for an armed robbery that just occurred at that location.

Officers arrived on scene and contacted the victim, who said he had been robbed at gunpoint in one of the apartments.

According to the victim, he was at the apartment to meet with someone he knew when another subject produced a gun and struck him in the face, demanding money.

The victim, a 41-year-old Jefferson City resident, handed over cash he had in his pocket, then fled the apartment and called police. He did not require medical treatment for his injury.

Police are investigating a number of leads and have developed a suspect in the case, but are still asking for more information.
