Lady Jays, Jays nab cross country crowns

In large-school competition at Helias Invitational

It was a banner day for the Jefferson City cross country teams on Saturday.

The Jays and Lady Jays took home the large-school titles in the Helias Invitational at Binder Park.

On the boys side, Jefferson City finished with 20 points. Hickman was a distant second with 75. Helias finished fifth and Eldon was sixth.

All of Jefferson City's runners finished in the top 25. Jackson Schwartz paced the Jays with a second-place finish and a time of 17:11.33. He was followed close behind by Eli Jacobs (fourth, 17:18.72) and Saxon Teubner (fifth, 17:38.88).

All seven Lady Jays' runners finished in the top 14, led by Emily Deeken in third with a time of 19:43.00. Lindsey Biesmeyer was fifth with a time of 20:50.00.

Helias' Kaitlyn Shea took second overall with a time of 19:37.00.

The Jays won the JV meet as Jefferson City's Dylan Fischer took first with a time of 18:15.00. Jayden Walker of the Jays was third (18:51.00) and Cody Irwin was fourth (19:09.00).

The Lady Jays won the JV meet. Michaela Krause took first with a time of 22:18.00, while Madison Hart was second with a time of 22:59.00. The Lady Jays had the top 11 finishers in the meet.
