A St. Louis man was being held Friday in the Cole County Jail on $25,000 bond after being charged with parental kidnapping.
Kharami Dixon Jr., 21, was also charged with possession of marijuana.
A Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement shows Dixon took a 2-year-old girl from a residence in the 700 block of Maple Street without the permission of her mother.
Dixon is the child's father, but his name is not on her birth certificate and there are no court papers stating he can have her.
Dixon told the mother he would take the child back to St. Louis and wouldn't bring her back.
Dixon was found in the 100 block of Riverside Drive as officers checked locations he was known to visit.
The child was later found at the residence of Dixon's mother.
