Soccer: Jays go 2-1

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Jefferson City soccer team went 2-1 at the Kickapoo Shootout this weekend.

The Jays opened the tournament with a 2-0 victory against Nixa on Friday afternoon. Marcus Woodruff and Brandon Wiler had goals. Spencer Bone and Aaron Crane had the assists.

Jefferson City defeated Glendale 3-2 in penalty kicks Saturday before losing 2-0 to Lee's Summit West.

Erich Sporleder and Woodruff had goals for the Jays. Jefferson City scored on all five tries in penalty kicks to win. Crane had both assists.

Jefferson City (15-3) plays again Monday at Helias. The JV game should start at 5 p.m. with the varsity to start about 6:45 p.m.
