Trunk or Treat slated at fairgrounds

The Jefferson City Jaycees and Hy-Vee are inviting businesses to participate in a Trunk or Treat Oct. 26.

The event will be from 4-7:30 p.m. at Jefferson City Jaycees Fairgrounds.

The project began in 2009 to offer the children in the area a safer place to trick or treat for Halloween. Proceeds will be donated to Operation T.O.Y.S. so underprivileged Cole County children have the opportunity to shop for Christmas gifts which they may otherwise not have the opportunity to purchase.

Businesses are invited to use a free booth space. They are asked to decorate a vehicle trunk and have candy or coupons or items suitable for children and hand them out to participants.

Promotional items may be raffled to help with proceeds for Operation T.O.Y.S.

If businesses do not want to use a booth space they can donate for treats for the children. For a donation of $25 a banner (provided by the business) will be hung announcing them as a sponsor of the event.

The event is open to children 12 and younger with a donation at the entrance of $1 per child. All children must be accompanied by parents or a guardian.
