JCPD investigating early morning stabbing

At approximately 4:30 a.m., the 911 center received a report of a stabbing victim that had just arrived at the Capitol Region Medical Center emergency room.

Officers contacted the victim, a 20 year old Jefferson City resident, who refused to give any information regarding the incident.

During the brief interview with the victim, officers determined that the assault occurred near the area of E. McCarty Street and Chestnut Street.

A canvas of that area failed to provide any further information, nor any other victims.

Numerous subjects at the hospital refused to identify themselves as witnesses to the stabbing and were moved on from the hospital at the request of staff.

The wound suffered by the victim did not appear to be life threatening.

The investigation is continuing and anyone with information is urged to contact the Jefferson City Police Department at 634-6400, or at CrimeStoppers at 659-TIPS (8477), or online at http://www.jeffcitycrimestoppers.com
