Cross Country: Helias sweeps title

CAMDENTON, Mo. - The Helias Crusaders and Lady Crusaders captured team honors Saturday at the Camdenton Invitational.

On the girls side, Helias finished with 22 points to take top honors. Blair Oaks was second with 74, followed by Raytown South with 81.

Kaitlyn Shea was the overall winner with a time of 19:56.

Rounding out the top five for Helias was Kayla Yanskey (third, 20:27), Baylee Francka (fifth, 20:55), Lanie Hentges (eighth, 21:45) and Kyle Frank (ninth, 22:10).

On the boys side, Helias totaled 54 points to finish one point better than Mexico. Blair Oaks was third with 86.

Matt Lorang led Helias with a fifth-place finish (17:44). Rounding out the top five were Evan Block (sixth, 17:49), Thomas Asmar (eighth, 18:15), Elliot Knernschield (11th, 18:20) and Christian Collins (30th, 19:22).

Jason Otto of Blair Oaks finished second overall in the boys race with a time of 17:15. Other top-20 Falcon finishers included Nick Yaeger (16th) and Brad Thomas (20th).

The Lady Falcons had a trio of top-20 individuals - Alyson Jones (12th), Rachel Isenberg (13th) and Taylor Scott (17th).
