Arrests made in early morning shooting

Three suspects have been arrested in connection with a shooting early Friday morning that left two people injured in Jefferson City.

According to a release, Jefferson City police have arrested: Terrance Jackson, 18, of Jefferson City; Brandon Maresh, 18, of Jefferson City; and Charles L. Roark, 17, of Cole County. All three have been charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action, both of which are felony charges. Jackson also has been charged with stealing of a firearm, also a felony.

According to police reports, at about 4 a.m., the 9-1-1 Center received calls of shots fired in the 600 block of Ohio Street.

More calls then came in that indicated at least one person was shot and was being transported to a local hospital for treatment.

When officers arrived on scene, they located a number of witnesses who told officers that a drive-by shooting occurred and that two persons were shot.

Witnesses gave a description of the persons and vehicle involved and during the course of the investigation, officers located the suspect vehicle in another area of the city, stopped the vehicle and took the occupants in custody for questioning.

A shotgun was located within the suspect vehicle, and a number of persons were transported to the police department for questioning.

The two persons shot, a Jefferson City male and female, each age 22, are under treatment for moderate injuries and their wounds are not life-threatening.

Jefferson City police are continuing to investigate the shooting.
