DUBLIN, Ohio (AP) - Another rain delay cut short some exceptional golf Friday in the Presidents Cup.
Phil Mickelson and Keegan Bradley shot 30 on the front nine at Muirfield Village, an astounding performance in foursomes. Only some sloppy play allowed the match to go 15 holes and a 4-and-3 win for the Americans.
Right behind them, Brendon de Jonge began to emerge as a star of the International team. He teamed with Ernie Els in a 4-and-3 win over Hunter Mahan and Bill Haas.
Those were the only two of six matches that were completed as storms interrupted play for the second straight day and left a bleak outlook for finishing Sunday. The Americans, still a point ahead, led in two matches, while the Internationals were ahead in the other two. They will be completed Saturday morning.
In the matches the Americans led, Steve Stricker and Jordan Spieth were 3 up through 14 holes against Branden Grace and Richard Sterne, and Tiger Woods and Matt Kuchar were 3 up after 12 holes against Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel. For the International team, Angel Cabrera and Marc Leishman were 1 up through 13 holes against Webb Simpson and Brandt Snedeker, and Adam Scott and Hideki Matsuyama were 4 up after 11 holes against Jason Dufner and Zach Johnson.
After the completion of the suspended matches Saturday, the teams are scheduled to play five morning foursomes matches and five afternoon fourballs matches. Twelve 12 singles matches are scheduled Sunday.
SEVE TROPHY
SAINT-NOM-LA-BRETECHE, France (AP) - Nicolas Colsaerts and Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano matched the biggest winning margin in Seve Trophy history, beating Britain and Ireland's Paul Lawrie and Stephen Gallacher in fourballs play to help Continental Europe take a 5 1/2-4 1/2 lead.
Joost Luiten and Gregory Bourdy also earned a point for Continental Europe, edging Tommy Fleetwood and Chris Wood 1 up. Britain and Ireland took the other second-day three matches. Paul Casey and Simon Khan beat Mikko Ilonen and Thorbjorn Olesen 3 and 2, David Lynn and Scott Jamieson edged Francesco Molinari and Matteo Manassero 1 up, and Jamie Donaldson and Marc Warren topped Thomas Bjorn and Miguel Angel Jimenez 4 and 2.
Britain and Ireland has won the last six meetings after losing the inaugural event in 2000.
REIGNWOOD LPGA CLASSIC
BEIJING (AP) - American Jessica Korda shot a 5-under 68 to take a two-stroke lead after the second round of the smog-shrouded Reignwood Classic, the LPGA Tour's first event in China.
Korda had a 14-under 132 total at Pine Valley.
China's Shanshan Feng and American Stacy Lewis were tied for second. Feng had a 64, and Lewis shot 66. South Korea's Na Yeon Choi was 11 under after a 71, and top-ranked Inbee Park was 9 under after a 68.
