Your Opinion: Pray for our state to move closer to the Lord

Dear Editor:

I think it is time for Christians (not denomination but faith) to wake up and pay attention to what is going on around them. Our country, the United States of America, was built around Christian principles. Our country has moved further and further away from these principles and now we are seeing things happen in the country that have never happened before, and yes, lets include the catastrophic weather events. The Holy Bible mentions equal events in end days.

I have concern for the state of Missouri. I have never voted straight party, except when the system would not let me deviate, then I went the conservative way. I vote for the person. I have great respect for our Gov. Jay Nixon, who as I understand is also a Christian person. But I fear that he may be deviating from those principles with some of his new proposals. The Missouri voters twice voted down gay marriage in Missouri, I believe we have an amendment to that effect.

Christians, maybe we need to wake up and watch what is going on in our state of Missouri. Each day I pray to the Lord that our country, the United States of America, move back closer to the Lord, and I pray each day that our state of Missouri not move further away from the Lord.

We have been truly blessed in Missouri in many ways, and I believe that much of that comes from the Lord watching over his people. I fear that if we stray further away the Lord may not be so considerate of us.
