I enjoyed the recent in-depth Madeleine Leroux article about conference center proposals. More input may be needed.
How big a space do we need to attract meetings which are going elsewhere? Do we need more hotel rooms?
We need to get specific information. The CVB director testified that more square feet may be needed. Councilman Hussey stated something similar in his initial motion.
Proposal 3 may be a pathway to an answer. Create a RFP without a hotel. Create a RFP with more square feet. Get CVB input on what will bring in more meetings. Get input with people with meeting planning experience.
The results may be interesting. Proposal 3 is currently not being considered. There were some deadline problems.
Should a new RFP be created, other proposals may come forward. Existing proposals might be modified. Proposal 3 might win out. He may not. He will, however, have led us toward a better final proposal.
How legal a new RFP is I cannot begin to comment. This is why we hire legal experts. A win-win solution is needed. We are getting closer.
